The short version
We want everyone to be able to find a working code on TriedCodes, however they use the web. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. If something doesn't work for you, tell us and we'll fix it or get you the information another way.
What we've done
- Keyboard: every page works with a keyboard alone. You can see where you are on the page, and a "Skip to content" link lets you jump past the menu.
- Codes: the "Show code" buttons say which store and offer they're for. The code window can be used with a keyboard, closes with Escape, and returns you to where you were.
- Screen readers: pages use real headings, lists and landmarks, form fields have labels, and filters announce whether they're on or off. Store logos are skipped because the store's name is always next to them.
- Color and contrast: text meets the WCAG AA contrast levels in both light and dark mode. We never use color alone to show what a label means.
- Dark mode follows your device setting.
- Less motion: if you turn on "reduce motion" on your device, we turn off animations. We don't use carousels, videos that play by themselves, pop-ups or countdown timers.
- Zoom and small screens: pages work when zoomed to 200% and on screens as narrow as 320 pixels, without scrolling sideways. Tables turn into labeled cards on phones.
How we test
We check every type of page (home, stores, categories, Stores A–Z and these info pages) in two ways:
- with automated accessibility checks (axe), against WCAG 2.2 AA, in light and dark mode
- by hand, using only a keyboard, and at phone sizes down to 320 pixels
We repeat these checks whenever we change how a page looks or works. We haven't had an independent audit yet, and we haven't tested with every screen reader, so we especially want to hear from you if something is hard to use.
Known limitations
- Store and network websites: when you click through to a store, you leave TriedCodes. We can't control how accessible the store's website or the affiliate network's page is.
- Ads: when we add ads, they'll come from Google AdSense. We'll keep them in fixed, labeled spots, but we don't control what's inside them.
We don't know of any other accessibility problems right now. If you find one, we'll list it here until it's fixed.
